TenderLand
Power Content Label
In California, electric service providers offered many different types
of electricity products from which consumers could choose. These electricity
products differed from one another in price, terms of service, and in
how the electricity was generated. The actual electricity received at
a particular location would be determined by the mix of power put into
the regional electricity grid. By choosing a renewable provider such as
TenderLand, consumers could choose the type of electricity generation
sources which fed power into the grid on their behalf. As more customers
chose to support renewable power, less electricity would be generated
with conventional sources such as fossil fuels (natural gas, petroleum,
and coal), and nuclear fission. The tables below show the sources of power
delivered to the grid on behalf of TenderLand's retail customers in 1999
and 2000. The tables show that 100% of the power consumed by TenderLand's
customers was generated by renewable sources in 1999 and 2000. For comparison
purposes, average power generation sources in California are approximately
50% natural gas, 16% nuclear, 11% coal, 10% large hydroelectric, and only
12% renewable.
